Lofitech - a brief outline |
||||||||
| Lofitech AS (Ltd) was established in 1988 as
a division of the sea farming company Lofilab AS. In 1998, Dag Hansen,
Geir Viggo Jensen and Poseidon Holding AS (Ltd) took over as owners of the
company. Lofitech's business idea is to develop and manufacture technical
equipment for the sea farming industry. The company's first product, the
Seal Scarer, was developed in 1988 and as of today, about 800 units have
been sold to customers all over the world. Since 1988, the company has
worked on the development of a new pest scarer that will keep both otters
and seals away from sea farms. Otters and seabirds (cormorants, eider
ducks and herons) have gradually become a major problem for many sea
farmers along the coast. The first Universal Scarers were ready for
the market in autumn 2001. Lofitech AS also offers technical support for
various types of sea farming equipment.
The company's headquarters are located in Norway at Næringsparken, Leknes, Lofoten Islands, together with a number of other inspiring businesses with maritime connections. The work force at Lofitech AS includes one full-time and four part-time employees. Lofitech collaborates with several other private companies in the Lofoten Islands including Lofilab, Lofoten Polarlaks, Poseidon Simulation AS and The Nordland College of Fisheries.
